If you’re interested in getting your child an electric toothbrush, then our dentist, Dr. Scott Healey, is happy to help you select the brush that is right for your child. It’s important to choose the right brush so your child’s teeth and gums stay healthy and strong and so oral hygiene can be a top priority for your child. When searching the oral hygiene aisle at the store, it’s best to select a brush that has the following characteristics:

-A non-slip grip handle (This can help your child have a good hold on the brush, which can help them use the brush more effectively)

-Extra soft toothbrush bristles (Soft bristles are important because they clean the teeth and keep the gums in tip-top shape)

-A small brush head (This type of head allows your child to maneuver the brush all around the mouth)

-A timer (A two-minute timer ensures that your child is brushing for the proper amount of time)

-Interactive and fun elements that maximize your child’s involvement in the brushing process (Those elements could include catchy songs, fun games and even popular Disney and other cartoon characters)
