What do you know about root canal therapy? As you may know, root canal therapy is designed to treat a tooth whose center is decayed or infected. Still, there are several myths surrounding root canal therapy.

As you know, you may need root canal when a cavity filling won’t save your tooth. You see, if you have an infection in the center of your tooth, your dentist will need to remove the infected area. Similarly, if the bone or root surfaces are damaged, you may need root canal therapy.

Similarly, many people believe that having root canal therapy will be an extremely unpleasant, painful process—until they’ve had root canal therapy. Most patients who’ve had a cavity filled and root canal therapy claim that discomfort they experience during both treatments are similar. In other words, having a cavity filled is probably less painful than dealing with the symptoms of a damaged root canal.

On a final note, if you don’t fill your cavity, your tooth could die. If this happens, our dentist may have to remove the tooth. Once this happens, you’ll need a restoration to complete your smile.
